     The 32nd Annual Christmas in Historic Montgomery, sponsored by the Montgomery Historical Society, is slated for Saturday, December 12, 2009. Activities start at 9:00 AM and end at 8:00 PM.

Schedule of Events:

  • 9:00 AM until 5 PM - Holiday Marketplace (Arts & Crafts) - Community Center
  • 11 AM - Christmas Parade (CHRISTMAS “A Magical Season” Honoring those serving in Iraq & Afghanistan Saluting all Veterans)
  • Noon until 5:00 PM - 18th Annual Cookie Walk - Community Center
  • 4:00 PM until 8 PM - Candlelight Home Tour - Adults $10 – Children/Students $5
  • Noon until 4:00 PM - SANTA'S POST OFFICE (McCall Law Office) McCown Street Children are invited to bring their letters addressed to Santa North Pole, USA
  • 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDE Boarding at Old Baptist Church (Caroline & Pond Streets) - Adults $5.00 – Children $2.00 5 years old & under

Holiday Marketplace (Arts & Crafts) will be held at the Community Center, corner of College and Liberty Street (FM 149), from 9:00 AM until 5 PM. At 11 AM, the Christmas Parade begins with the theme "A Magical Season" Honoring those serving in Iraq & Afghanistan Saluting all Veterans. An application for the parade and for vendor space may be picked up at The Clover Patch, Western Winery and at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Downtown Montgomery. Our popular Cookie Walk, with the help of the National Charity League, will be held at the Community Center from Noon until 5:00 PM. The doors open at 1:00 PM to people waiting in line to be the first to choose from thousands of beautifully decorated cookies and candies on display. These confections are sold by the pound and are collected from area residents who so graciously donate to our good cause. The Community Center will be decked out in holiday decorations and with themed trees. The aroma and the beautifully decorated trays of goodies will definitely get you into the Holiday spirit. Approximately a dozen decorated and lighted historic homes and buildings will be open for The Candlelight Home Tour which begins at 4:00 PM. Hosts and hostesses don Victorian dress for this event. When darkness falls, folks can follow the luminaries throughout the narrow streets of Montgomery, one of the oldest cities in Texas. Home Tour tickets may be purchased starting at 2:00 PM on day of event at the Nat Hart Davis Museum, located at 308 Liberty Street (FM 149). Tickets for the tour are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Clover Patch prior to December 12th. Activities abound with the sights and sounds of Christmas in Montgomery. Our restaurants, antique, and gift shops will remain open throughout the evening for your enjoyment and pleasure, as well as for your shopping. Don’t forget to register for the Nativity Scene sets at any of the participating shops.

Area students, residents and civic groups join in to make this holiday event one to remember. All of the funds generated from this event go towards the restoration and preservation of the seven buildings owned by the Montgomery Historical Society.
